Over time, dentures (also called prostheses) may no longer fit properly with the current shape and size of your jaw. Research has shown that your jaw gradually shrinks as you get older. As a result, your prosthesis often no longer provides support when eating or talking. Click dentures offer the solution to your problem. Lassus Tandartsen has the knowledge, experience and expertise to develop suitable click dentures for you from our practices in Amsterdam.
What are click dentures?
Click-on dentures can be seen as a prosthesis that is clicked onto implants. Hence the name click dentures. Depending on the current shape and size of your jaw, the click dentures are usually mounted on two or four implants.
The implants are installed by our implantologist under local anesthesia. This way you will not experience any pain during the treatment. Once the implants have been placed, the implantologist will click your new denture onto the previously placed implants, so that you can be sure that your click dentures have been fitted correctly. In addition, you also have the option to take your click dentures in and out at any time of the day.

Frequently asked questions
Do click dentures hurt?
We place the implants for the click dentures under local anesthesia. This means you will not feel more pain than with a regular dental procedure. After the treatment you may experience some swelling and/or pain. You can easily combat this with a cold pack and some standard painkillers such as paracetamol.
Can I eat everything with click dentures?
Of course. When the implants are properly bonded, you can eat, drink and laugh without worry. Click dentures feel like you have your own teeth again.
How do I clean click dentures?
You can remove the click dentures from your mouth to clean them. You use a special denture brush and special cleaning agent for this. Never use regular toothpaste when cleaning click dentures. This can cause damage to the prosthesis.
Will the cost of the click dentures be reimbursed by my health insurer?
The basic health insurance only reimburses click-on dentures if there is a toothless jaw that has shrunk to such an extent that a regular denture is no longer an option. If this is not the case, you can sometimes still get reimbursed for click dentures through additional dental insurance. The precise reimbursement varies per insurer and per package. So consult your policy carefully or contact your insurer.
